Hello! Happy New Month of October Everyone!
On today’s post, I’m providing you all with a guide on how to wear polka dots.
Polka dots are a fun, feminine, and youthful print to have in your wardrobe. Black and white polka dots are easy to style and accessorize all four seasons. There are also neutral shades such as brown and colorful ones including green, yellow, blue, and red.
The Vivid Styling’s tips on things to consider when wearing polka dots:
- Ease of styling. Black and white polka dots are the easiest to style because black and white are staple/classic colors.
- Size of polka dots, small vs. big: It is okay to mix small polka dots with big polka dots. Make it fun!
- You can mix and match the color of the polka dot clothing. The colors just need to compliment each other without being too overbearing. For example:
- I saw a nice green shirt with navy polka dots in the store over the summer.
- I put it up against black and white polka dot pants (white base, black dots).
- The outfit looked amazing! I was on a shopping freeze, so I did not make the purchase (lol & le’sigh). I definitely would have made this a look though.
- It’s okay to wear multiple polka dot items at a time. It’s all about how you style it. Here are some options:
- A polka dot headband, polka dot shirt, and polka dot shoes.
- A polka dot dress and polka dot shoes. I believe I had this look on before with a polka dot hair tie. It did not look overbearing, because the dress had pink, black, and blue dots with black lace trimming on the collar area. The base of the dress was white.
- Polka dot shirt and pants.
- Polka dot skirt, headband, and bracelet.
- Polka dots can be dressed up or down regardless of whether you have jeans on or a skirt. I styled sneakers with a polka dot skirt on my Instagram (here).
- Polka dots can be worn with other prints such as leopard or plaid.
- Some individuals tend to have opinions on the size of polka dots one should wear depending on their body type. I say, just be confident and enjoy love!
For today’s look, I went with a white and black polka dot crop shirt from Zara (sold out). I linked the same exact one below at an even cheaper price from one of my favorite budget friendly online stores. This top can be layered over a turtle neck or collared shirt in true Fall/Winter weather. I paired this shirt with denim for a more casual look and have on my favorite polka dot shoes, ever! Check out shopping links below.
My shoes are from Zara, but you can find exact ones for cheaper here.

With Love,
This is an on time post. I just allowed myself to shop… a little and I bought some polka dots. I tend to go with dresses but that’s just because of the ease of getting dressed. Love these photos of you and the outfit is subtle but nice! Looking forward to the next post.
Yes!! Thank you so much for the support. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. After wearing this look, I started getting into wearing more casual and denim looks ending of Summer into Fall. I absolutely agree that dresses are the easiest in terms of getting dressed and are my go-to, especially during the work week. I look forward to seeing how you pair your new polka dot fashion finds!
