I believe an individual grows up having insecurities not because they came into the world with them, but because someone along their journey pointed out or made fun of an individual’s unique feature. Today’s blog post is for those dealing with insecurities and how you can overcome them!!
Here’s for starters. I wouldn’t have worn or even purchased this bubble wrap dress and block heeled sandals that I have on if I did not overcome two insecurities that I once had. When I was younger, I was teased for my legs and feet. So I went my whole life being insecure about them. I allowed the opinions of those who teased me to negatively impact the kinds of shoes that I bought. I hardly wore blocked heel sandals because of this. I thought they were so nice but wouldn’t buy them for myself.
One day approximately three years ago, I went shoe shopping. I saw these really gorgeous open-toed shoes. I was hesitant at first; however, I decided I was going to try on the shoes. The shoes looked so good on me! I self-reflected on how I’ve probably missed out on nice shoes just because of an insecurity that formed from someone else’s opinion. From that day forward, my insecurity ended while my open-toe heels collection began (and a few shorter dresses on occasion).
Here’s the thing. You cannot let someone else’s opinion have a negative effect on how you view yourself. I think it’s very important that an individual embraces his or her God-given unique features. The beautiful thing about being an individual is that no one is like you. If you put yourself down due to your insecurity, I encourage you to say nice things about yourself daily.
As for the dress, this is a Nordstrom find. I love the bright red color. It’s a transitional item that can be worn as long as hot temperatures stick around and during a night out in the Fall with blocked heeled sandals. To color-block yet compliment the outfit, I went with lavender heels. You can also wear this dress with booties or with over the knee boots and a cardigan. This dress can be worn as a kimono/jacket. The handbag choice can vary according to the shoes you select. I loved pairing this bright red handbag with my outfit.
Have you overcome any insecurities? If so, how? Let me know in the comments.
