Not Your Typical Fall in Lilac

Hello!  Happy New Month! 🙂

I hope all is well with you all.  I’ve been pretty busy with work, this blog, things concerning ministry, and organizing my place.  Organization is important to me, because at my best organization I can freely think, jot down ideas, and be creative.

We are in the second week of October.  May I just say that it has not been your typical Fall?  The weather has been in the 80’s, so I’ve been taking advantage of this warm weather by continuing to wear pastel and bright colors as well as prints and block-heeled sandals.

I wore lilac in the Summer and have also been wearing this color in the Fall.  This color is a Fall/Winter 2018 NYFW color as well.  I tend to hear people ask what the difference between lilac and lavender is.  Lilac is a pastel shade of purple like pastel pink and light blue.  Lavender is a darker shade than lilac.

I got this outfit from Target when it was on super sale, and I was able to use a coupon on top of the sale. I picked up this asymmetrical skirt from the clearance rack.  If you don’t shop on the clearance rack, please do.  This skirt is white with gray and lilac print.  The lilac stands out more in person, just not on film.  I prefer longer skirts/dresses.  Not only because it’s modest, but I believe it’s more stylish.  They also make great versatile pieces no matter what the occasion is.

I knew I had to pair this skirt with a lilac shirt to bring out the color in the skirt.  This shirt is all that not only because of the color.  I can wear it in different ways.  This shirt can be tucked in with a skirt, worn partially tucked in with jeans, and can be regularly worn because it is long enough to pair with leggings.  As I stated in previous posts, my Summer outfits have to be pieces I can wear in the Fall.  Just like I have a passion for fashion, I also have a passion for finances.  Therefore, I do not look to spend a whole lot of money just for one season’s wardrobe.  I completed the look with my lilac block-heeled sandals that were also on super sale and my pastel pink Jet Set handbag.  For more of a Fall look, this outfit can be paired with white or black booties.  There you have it!!

  1. This is definitely not a color I would usually wear especially in the fall but it really works here. I also like the mix of solid and print. It is so well balanced. I would love to see more posts from you about mixing prints and colors (not having to be coordinated or choosing to be coordinated).

    1. Thank you so much! I’m happy you like the look. There will be more posts on mixing prints and color coming for the Fall!
