Overcoming 2021 and launching into 2022 – 10 Things to STOP doing in the New Year

Happy New Year! I’m excited for 2022 and another year in the Lord!

2021 was a good, yet tough year for many people, including myself. The Lord did many great things within me in 2021. I found out more about my beautiful gifts and obtained visions of where God wants to partner with me to make an impact. Yet, 2021 was also the year that my mother passed on this side of Earth as she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and receive her eternal reward. I’ve experienced and learned much in this season that could contain books upon books.

I consider seeing 2022 as a miracle, because I never imagined experiencing this kind of loss early in my life and never really thought about a life this early on without my mother, who was my greatest friend and companion after Jesus. What I received through this grieving season was a love so great, a keeping power and sustaining love, and that was the love of God. The love of God showed up and showed out for me in 2021, wiped every tear, and it started a healing journey for me.

Sharing just two of many scriptures that helped get me through 2021:

“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew. 5:4 KJV

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”-Psalm 34:18 KJV

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:18-19 KJV

Now for 2022, I’m ready to get ALL that God has for me this year.

To go into this new year and accomplish all that God has for me, it’s going take much faith, forward thinking, and work. Here are 10 things I will STOP doing by God’s Grace (we need God’s Grace because woman/man alone, we aren’t perfect).

  1. Stop dwelling in the past – (coulda, shoulda, woulda). The time is now, so look forward.
  2. Stop playing small – talking myself out of going for positions and opportunities.
  3. Stop thinking I don’t have what it takes to accomplish something.  God already prequalified me, and he gave me the tools to succeed.
  4. Stop talking about my frustrations and pray about it.  It’s human to talk about it; however, God calls us to spend more time in prayer.
  5. Stop mindlessly scrolling social media.
  6. Stop thinking I need to earn rest and relaxation by how much I accomplish.  Get rest regardless.  Be well-rested.
  7. Stop wanting to be in the house all the time.  Get out fellowship. Meet new people and quality friends.
  8. Stop thinking I am not loved and appreciated.  God loves me and herein lies all that matters. Also, so do the people God placed in my life.
  9. Stop needing to explain my side of the story.  A “no”, “ok”, or just no response at all are anointed. People will get it.
  10. Stop being too busy to the point where I do not spend more than sufficient time with God (prayer, studying, worship, witnessing), eating a well balanced healthy meal, and self-care/health/wellness. I.e. stop letting people drag or drain me until exhaustion. I am a seed too!
